This article provides the steps on how to resolve the health check alert you might encounter when Sococo is unable to detect your device after toggling the media source on (speaker, camera, or microphone):
No [speaker/camera/microphone] detected please plug in your [speaker/camera/microphone] or refer to help if it is already plugged in.
Typically, unplugging and replugging the undetected hardware will register the device. Once Sococo discovers your device, the health check system will show a recovery message, informing you that the device has been detected:
Your device should appear on the device list, located in the drop-down menu, next to the associated media control icon on the top navigation bar:
Alert: "No camera detected..." for Mac/OSX Users
If you are using Mac's integrated Facetime camera, check if your camera works on Apple's Photo Booth application. If Sococo is unable to detect your camera, and it is also not working on Photo Booth, it may be caused by the following health check alert:
No camera detected please plug in your camera or refer to help if it is already plugged in.
When you get this health check alert, it doesn't necessarily mean that your hardware is malfunctioning, or Sococo is not working correctly. Most users face this issue when they use their FaceTime camera with Apple's default bundled apps like FaceTime video, Messages, iChat, or Photo Booth. However, other apps using the built-in camera, like Sococo, may also occasionally report the issue.
The alert shows when the VDCAssistant does not properly close after exiting other apps that use the camera. The camera stays in use in the background and blocks Sococo from accessing it. Rebooting your Mac usually solves the issue, but it is impractical to restart your computer after joining a meeting. To resolve this issue without rebooting your computer:
Press command ⌘ + Space.
terminalon the pop-up window.
On the Terminal application, type in the following command:
sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant;sudo killall VDCAssistant
Enter the administrator password when requested.
Stop and relaunch your video in Sococo.
