Overview
Sococo users can invite others to become members of their Sococo space. It is possible to invite users using their email addresses, Slack account, or from Google Directory.
Note: There is currently no API for Sococo that allows adding users to a space programmatically. This process needs to be done manually.
Prerequisites
By default, all space members can invite new users to space. However, Administrators and Moderators may choose to restrict this function in Space Properties by enabling the "Only moderators can invite new users" option. In this case, only Moderators and Administrators can invite new users.
Solution
By inviting someone to be a member of your space, you are also granting access to the user to log in to Sococo (if they do not have an account already) and enter the allowed space(s) for your organization. Members have access to move around and interact with everyone in the space(s).
Note: Inviting someone to your space as a member is different from inviting someone as a guest.
To invite new team members to Sococo, follow the steps below:
- Click on the Sococo menu button in the top-left corner of the app
- From the menu, click on the Add Members button
- You can invite team members by selecting the:
Inviting by Email
To invite users using their email address:
- Select By Email tab
- Enter the list of email addresses (comma separated)
- Select spaces where you want to add the users.
- Click Send Invitations
Inviting From Slack Team
Make sure your space has Slack integration enabled. To invite users from your Slack team, follow the steps below:
- Select From Slack Team tab
- Select the Slack members from the list
- Select spaces where you want to add the users.
- Click Send Invitations
Inviting from Google Directory
You can invite users from your Google Directory. Note that this feature is available only with Google Enterprise Account. To invite users, follow the steps below:
- Click on Add From Google Directory button
- If asked, log in using your Google Account.
- Select the users from Google Directory from the list, and click Add
- A list of email addresses will automatically be added to the list of emails on the Invite by Email tab
- Select spaces where you want to add the users.
- Click Send Invitations
Testing
Once you invited the users, they will receive the invite email that they have to follow and accept the invitation to space. Administrators and Moderators can review the status of the invited users in Member Management and Space Settings. Users with Members role only cannot confirm on the Sococo app if the user accepted the invite.
Note: If the error message The invite limit of 40 has been reached is displayed when trying to send an invite, your space's Invite Limit policy is currently enabled. Contact Support for assistance in this matter.
