Overview
Sococo users will be signed off from the app when the same user is logging in from a different app. The same happens when trying to log in with different accounts on the same Chrome app, as it will return the first user back to the login screen. Sococo will not allow having both app windows open at the same time. This is often the issue with users that are part of multiple Sococo groups (organizations).
Diagnosis
You will be logged out from your application if:
- you log in with the same user on any other Sococo application
- you log in with a different user on the same Chrome application
- a Moderator or Administrator forces you offline
Solution
Another session is logging the user out
Sococo is designed to allow only one active session at the time for a user. This means that you will be able to have only one Sococo app open with one user. Every time you log in to Sococo, it will close the previous session, if any.
Similarly, on one Chrome browser application, you will be able to have only one Sococo session at the time. If you try to log in with another user, it will logout the first user.
Solutions to have more users logged in at the same time on the same device:
- Use Google Chrome app for one user, and an Incognito window for another user.
- Use Google Chrome app for one user, and the Sococo Desktop app for another user.
- User different Google Chrome profiles to log in with different users.
We advise not using multiple users to be part of different Organizations, as you can be part of one or more Orgs with one user only. It allows you to move between spaces and Orgs simply and all it takes is to be invited to that Org using the same email address.
A Moderator or Administrator is logging the user out
Moderators and Administrators are able to log users out of the space using the Force Offline feature. There is no limitation to when it can be used, only who can use it. You can ask your Moderators or Administrators if someone forced your avatar to log off.
Note: We have seen Admins often use this feature when users leave the work and leave avatars online in the space. To avoid confusion, they just force absent users to log out. The good practice here is to always set the preferred availability so everyone knows if you are available or not.
Application is malfunctioning
There is no other "intended" reason why your avatar would be logged out from the application. Unfortunately, it is possible that the application is malfunctioning for some reason. Please review the steps described in Troubleshooting Application Issues to identify the possible issue and resolve it.
Testing
If you went through all the steps in the Solution section, including clearing cache and reinstalling the application, and your user is still being logged out from the app, please follow up on a ticket with Support describing your issue in detail, and all the solutions you tried so far.
